Texarkana Metropolitan Planning Organization

At their June 10, 2010 meeting, the MPO Policy Board will be considering a resolution to support a planning corridor for the future I-69 facility as submitted by the I-69 Segment I Corridor Committee members and as recommended for adoption by the MPO Technical Committee at their June 3, 2010 meeting. The TUTS 2035 PLAN was adopted by the MPO Policy Committee on September 15, 2009. This document is the 25 year transportation plan for the Texarkana Region. The Texarkana Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan was adopted by the MPO Policy Committee on October 6, 2009. This document can be viewed on the website by clicking here or at the MPO Office. You may also pick up a copy of this document published on CD from the MPO Office at the same location.

The Texarkana Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is the administrative agency for the Texarkana Urban Transportation Study (TUTS).

The purpose of the MPO is to provide local citizens and elected officials the opportunity to be involved in the transportation planning process.

The Texarkana MPO consists of a Policy Committee, a Technical Committee, a Citizens’ Advisory Committee, and the MPO Staff.

The MPO serves the cities of Texarkana, Arkansas, Texarkana, Nash, and Wake Village, Texas, and portions of Miller and Bowie Counties and is responsible for continuous, comprehensive, and coordinated transportation planning within the MPO Study Area.

The MPO study area is comprised of nearly 195 square miles in northeast Texas and southwest Arkansas.
